Giuliana Rancic Has Successful Double Mastectomy

"E! News" host Giuliana Rancic made headlines of her own last month when she announced she had breast cancer.

The 37-year-old red carpet regular underwent successful double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery Tuesday night. Her husband Bill Rancic says she is recovering and doing well.

"Her surgery lasted about four hours and the doctors were very pleased with the result," Bill told E! News. "She had a little bit of pain through the night but is feeling much better this morning and was cracking jokes."

Giuliana extended a message of her own to her many fans.

"I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers," she wrote. "The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful."

Even before the procedures, Giuliana stayed optimistic, saying "I'll be able to say that I survived something major and it's made me stronger. I will be a better woman for it."

During that interview, Giuliana also expressed her hopes of having a full recovery by New Year's Eve.

The E! host isn't the only star who has had the procedure. Christina Applegate and Wanda Sykeshave made full recoveries and are cancer-free.

Giuliana Rancic, who is married to Season 1 apprentice victory Bill Rancic, told Ann that the tumor was discovered while she was undergoing in-vitro fertilization in an effort to get pregnant. Rancic was emotional as you can imagine but she was adamant about how great her husband has been following this difficult news. She is also holding steadfast to her dream of having a baby. She said:
“…because this baby has saved my life. I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker.”

She is very brave as this can be hard for anyone. You and your family are most definitely in our prayers.
